The New Páirc Uí Chaoimh

The GAA is such a part of Irish culture and very much a part of the Cork Culture.  They really do love their Hurling in Cork.  Being a fan myself for years and having participated in the Gaelic Games as well in the states, I see the comradery involved in it.  It brings people together and a bond is built that lasts for years.  Since being in Ireland, I’ve actually run into a couple of teammates that I would’ve played with in Boston and you truly pick right up where you left off.  The last time I was in the old Páirc Uí Chaoimh was 2001 when I was over visiting my relatives.  We went to see the Munster Football Final between Cork and Kerry.  Over the last couple of years I’ve been keeping an eye out for the new stadium seeing the progress that was being made.  I was very much excited about it as most of Cork and much of the country was.  We had gotten tickets to the Blarney and Valley Rovers match the week before.  The rain had come down all day but for some reason it was holding off for the evening…
