Tripe and Drisheen

After trying Crubeens a couple of months ago a lot of people encouraged me to try Tripe and Drisheen.  For those of you not from Cork Tripe is the lining of a sheep or cow’s stomach and Drisheen is a type of blood pudding like black pudding.

I find it interesting to know what and why nationalities eat certain foods and how they become popular but for all the people who suggested I try it I met no one who’d actually tired it themselves. I won’t lie that kind of worried me but nonetheless I ventured to the famous English Market known for serving up Cork and Irish delicacies.

A O’Reilly & Sons sells Tripe and Drisheen so I said yes one afternoon and went in to pick them up…
