I’m a huge fan of seeing small scale snippets of nature within cities. From parks like Fitzgerald Park to little green areas amongst apartment buildings I like seeing the contrast. Knowing that Eilish suggested we try the Garden Café in Blackpool. I was taken back when I saw a Victorian style glasshouse surrounded by a beautiful garden looking right over Cork City. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t heard of it before.
The produce is from the community garden as well some local Cork producers. The café provides adult education in the form of having employees as trainees and they receive training in the different areas from food preparation to customer service. The Garden Café says, “This initiative is essentially about bringing out the best in people and about helping them to realise their true potential.” This sounds like a lot of people saying yes to new so the least I could do is say yes myself…
